Perfect for Holiday Parties and Special Occasions

These Maryland crab cake stuffed shrimp aren’t just for dinner. They also make an impressive seafood appetizer for Christmas, New Year’s Eve, or any gathering where you want to serve something special.

For easier entertaining, butterfly the shrimp and prepare the crab cake stuffing ahead of time. Assemble the stuffed shrimp, cover, and refrigerate at 40°F or below until you’re ready to cook, preferably within 24 hours.

When guests arrive, bake according to the recipe and serve hot with fresh lemon wedges. Sweet Maryland blue crab, Old Bay seasoning, and meaty colossal shrimp make this a standout appetizer.

How to Butterfly Shrimp for Stuffing

Peel and devein each shrimp, leaving the tail attached if desired. Using a sharp knife, make a lengthwise cut along the back without slicing all the way through. Gently open the shrimp so the two sides create a cradle for the crab cake stuffing.

Arrange the shrimp on the prepared baking sheet, then spoon the crab mixture into the opening. Avoid packing the stuffing too tightly so it heats evenly. Bake until the center of the stuffing reaches 145°F.
