What are Piggyback Tails?
How to Cook Piggyback Tails?
Piggyback tails can be baked, roasted in the oven, steamed, smoked, air fry, or grilled in about 15 minutes or less. Serve with warm drawn butter, lemon wedge, and parsley garnish.
- Bake/Roast: Slow defrost the tails under refrigeration. Preheat the oven to 425. Place the tails on a cookie sheet, meat side up. Brush the meat side of the tails with butter or your favorite marinade. Cook for 12-15 minutes.
- Grill Instructions: Brush the meat side of the tails with butter or your favorite marinade. Place the tails on a preheated, well-greased grill rack with the meat side up. Grill for 8-10 minutes. Baste the tails again 1 or 2 times during the cooking process. Do not flip. See our guide for the best way to grill lobster tails at home.
- Steam: Place thawed lobster in a steam basket and steam for approximately 8-10 minutes.
- Smoke Lobster Tails: To smoke lobster tails, prepare them by exposing the meat and rubbing it with olive oil and your preferred BBQ seasoning. Then, smoke the tails on a grill set to 250°F with a light smoking wood for about an hour, or until they reach an internal temperature of 140°F. See our full instructions for how to smoke lobster tails.
